Core Subjects:

In Maths in Year 2, we work with concrete apparatus; solve problems more frequently and investigate maths in the real world. By the end of the year we will expect every child to know their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables.

In English we build on our previous learning, focusing on sentence structures and recounting of stories and events, following the Talk for Writing approach. We develop our speaking and listening skills by participating in role play and group activities and taking turns. We are also using the RWI (Read, Write Inc) scheme to continue to develop our reading and phonics.

In Science we learn all about Living Things and their Habitats, Plants, Materials, Animals including Humans and the Scientist, Nancy Johnson. To support our learning, we do lots of practical investigations, and take our learning into the outside environment where possible.

2M PE: Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Please ensure children come to school in the correct PE kit on these days, suitable for both indoor or outdoor learning.
