We aim for fantastic levels of school attendance, which in turn will improve attainment for the children of Albert Bradbeer Primary Academy. As a school we strive for success and we expect all parents to be committed to their children’s education through attendance and engagement.
the overall school target for attendance is 96%
Good attendance throughout the school year is vital to your child’s education and various studies have confirmed this.
Attendance + Engagement = Achievement
We continue to promote positive engagement with parents whose children’s attendance has become a cause for concern. Letters are sent out to all parents when their child’s attendance has fallen below 90%. Meetings will ensue if attendance does not improve.
Fast Track remains an active deterrent for poor attendance and Albert Bradbeer Primary Academy has an obligation to follow the Fast Track Process, which can lead to parents being prosecuted.
School can no longer authorise any holidays in term time, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
The school day starts at 8:55 am and finishes at 3.25 pm. This amounts to 32.5 hours per week.
Each child in school has an attendance reward booklet, where they earn stamps for every day that they are in school. Children are able to save up these stamps to earn a reward of their choice.
20 Stamps: A lucky dip prize
50 Stamps: A book / small toy / pencil case
100 Stamps: A game / squishmallow / large toy
140 Stamps: A Smyths Top Shop voucher
Poor Attendance
As well as looking at good attendance we also look regularly at poor attendance. We monitor this in the following ways:
If your child needs a lot of medical appointments, we ask you to show the office the appointment cards so a log can be put on file.
You must contact the office before 9.30am on the initial day of illness if your child is going to be absent from school.
Attendance is monitored daily.
You have all received a Whole School Fast Track letter, which gives you an insight into the measures that are in place to prevent poor attendance.
The Education Legal Intervention Team (ELIT) will become involved if the situation does not improve and this could potentially lead to court action.
Our school’s Attendance Policy will be found on our Policies page.
