Core Subjects:

In Maths in Year 5, we continue to develop our arithmetic skills, with a large focus on all four operations and fractions, decimals and percentages. We solve increasingly complex problems and investigate maths in the real world. We use our sound knowledge of the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, 11 and 12 times tables to support our learning.

In English we build on our previous learning, following the Talk for Writing approach. We develop our speaking and listening skills by participating in role play and group activities and taking turns.

In Science we learn all about Living Things and their Habitats, Forces, Properties and Changing Materials, Earth and Space and Animals including Humans. To support our learning, we do lots of practical investigations, and take our learning into the outside environment where possible.

Extra information:

Both classes have PE on Fridays.

Please ensure children come to school in the correct PE kit on this day, suitable for both indoor or outdoor learning.

Both classes go swimming on Tuesdays.

Please ensure children bring their swimming kit to school on this day, every week.
